  • WELCOME!

Hello and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Here you will see what I am up to, I try and keep my blog updated with recent shoots that I have done or any exciting news I have.

As a photographer I am not big on words but prefer to convey myself through photographs. So please enjoy scrolling through my images.

The photo on the right is of myself with my family taken while we were on holiday a little while ago. I put the camera on a tripod and used the "timer" function to be able to be in the picture. I always try update our family photos as I know our kids are growing and changing so quickly.

Photography for Beginners Course in Tzaneen

This past week I ran my final Photography for Beginners Course in Tzaneen and was joined with 7 lovely folk from around the area, they all grasped everything that was taught to them quickly and had some very insightful questions to be answered. I thoroughly enjoyed the session and am looking forward to seeing how their photographs improve after this course.

After going through the settings of the camera and practicing around the gardens, taking photographs of flowers / water and even moving cars, we then took some photos of this gorgeous boy as well as some of the “students”, to show how posing can make a difference to a photograph.

Some kind words:

“The Beginners course was such an eye opener, you have a camera but don’t really know the fun part of owning one.  I can’t wait to practice with my kids.  I am so excited.  Thank you so much for your patience and not being greedy with the information Penny.” – Penny M

“Penny is very professional, friendly and eager to help you with any questions.  High Recommend!” – Leatitia

“Strongly recommend this training to anyone!  I’ve learned ALOT!! Thank you so much, looking forward to practicing at home” – Jana

Thank you to all of you for joining me for the day.  I won’t be running any more trainings in Limpopo but am looking forward to running some more in Natal once we are settled in our new home.

Family Photos

Every now and then I get a bee in my bonnet about updating my family photos.  It wasn’t so long ago that I managed to get some pics of all of as at the beach so I don’t usually want to take photos after such little time has passed but when I saw Christy Stever Photography’s post on Facebook with photographs of the blooms at Cheerio Gardens I knew that I had to get there.  On Saturday afternoon I asked my bigger kids to go to their cupboards and show me what they had that they could wear, to my surprise my older daughter didn’t have a dress that fitted her anymore and only had gymnastics type clothes (as all she wants to do these days is gymnastics) and my son didn’t have 1 collared shirt.  So, on Sunday morning myself and the kids took the 30 minute drive to our local town to find something for them to wear, luckily I managed to find some things that I was happy with.

As this was the only weekend we were able to do this I forced my husband who had just arrived back from an overseas trip, not having slept all night and having driven 4 hours to get home to have a strong coffee, a shower and off we went to Cheerio Gardens.  It was a beautiful day on the Mountain, the sun was shining, the wind was a bit cold but we got used to it.  It’s hard trying to get photos of your own kids without wanting to throw in the towel.  Mine are all at different stages of being self conscious or just smiling in a stupid way.  After walking around though I managed to get a good variety of images that I was happy with.  I used my tripod to capture a family image of us so I could feature in these photos too as it’s so easy to just not be in the photos but I want my kids to look back on these photos one day and be able to see us all together.  I got a lot more images than the ones shown here but I didn’t want to bore you too much.

I am still planning on hiring a photographer before we move off the Mountain to get some family photos where I don’t have to be Photographer and Mom.

Taylor Pre-Matric Dance Photos

It is almost Matric Dance Season so I thought I would share a few Pre-Matric Dance Shoots that I did last year.

This session took place at a beautiful location at the bottom of Fairview Lodge Grounds. I do love including parents in the shoots too.

An update

The time has come to update all of you, my valued clients and followers, and let you know that in December this year my family and I will be moving away from the beautiful Magoebaskloof Mountains.  We will be relocating to Howick in Natal to be closer to our families so our kids can grow up surrounded by their Granny’s, Grandpa’s, Cousins and Aunts and Uncles.  We are very sad to be leaving the Limpopo Province after calling it home for 7 years and to say goodbye to all the wonderful friends we have made along the way but we are very excited about starting our businesses in Natal.

We are still planning on visiting at least once a year and I will send out details of my availablilty before we come so if you would like to be updated please make sure I have your email address and you will be the first to know.

To all my clients.  Thank you SO much for the support and for allowing me to grow my business to where it is today.  I love working with newborns and families to create such beautiful memories as your children grow and have been so fortunate to work with so many of you year after year.
