  • WELCOME!

Hello and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Here you will see what I am up to, I try and keep my blog updated with recent shoots that I have done or any exciting news I have.

As a photographer I am not big on words but prefer to convey myself through photographs. So please enjoy scrolling through my images.

The photo on the right is of myself with my family taken while we were on holiday a little while ago. I put the camera on a tripod and used the "timer" function to be able to be in the picture. I always try update our family photos as I know our kids are growing and changing so quickly.

Preece Family Photographs

As I sit in my cold office in the middle of Winter I am dreaming of warmer days and more colourful surroundings, I thought it would be fitting to share this colourful photoshoot of the lovely Preece family.  These images were taken on the farm of Kuhestan in Magoebaskloof.  Surrounded by beauty my job was made difficult by the fact that I had so much choice…. but we took our time and explored the gardens and created some lovely images for them.

Hall Maternity and Family Photos

I can’t believe this little guy was born 9 months ago and I am only getting around to blogging these images now.  This family were visiting Magoebaskloof and asked me to take some photos of them before they became a family of 4.  I really enjoyed driving around to a few different locations with them that they loved and learning what made big sister laugh and smile.

Millicent’s Birthday

I was invited to take photographs of this lovely ladies birthday celebration at a venue just outside of Tzaneen.  We took photographs in the most beautiful light just as the sun was setting and managed to get a great variety of images of herself as well as with her friends.

Photography Course in Mageobaskloof

Last Saturday I ran my Photography for Beginners Course in Magoebaskloof.  I was joined by a lovely group of ladies who wanted to take more control of their cameras and understand how to better create beautiful images.  The first section of the course was spent explaining the camera, the settings and understanding all about the exposure triangle.   This gorgeous girl below was there while her Mommy took the course so she modeled for us and showed us a few of her gorgeous smiles as we practiced the Aperture part of the course.

After lunch we spoke about other factors to consider when taking photographs, the ladies learnt about some rules of photography as well as ways of drawing the viewers eye to the part of the image we want to them to look at.   We then used my 3 year old daughter to model for us so we could practice what had been taught.

Some kind words:

“The class was informative and hands-on and set at exactly the right level, it was relaxed enough to encourage group participation and questions.  I will definitely recommend the class.” – Ruth

“I had no knowledge about a camera whatsoever.  I really learned and understood the information.  I know that I will have to practice a lot to apply the knowledge.” – Charlene

“Wow Penny you are an excellent teacher.  You take time with each of your students.  Being a complete beginner in photography I felt special.  Thank you so much.” – Petronella

Blight Extended Family Photoshoot

For some families with siblings or children living on the other side of the country it isn’t often that they are able to get together.  So when this wonderful family got together one long weekend the organized a photoshoot to document this special time and I am so grateful that they asked me to take photographs for them.  I loved this shoot and the challenge of getting over excited kids to relax enough to get a photograph that Granny will cherish.
