WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Those fond memories of motherhood begin before birth. While mom is still feeling refreshed, beautiful and excited about the joy of her new arrival, I recommend scheduling your maternity session, usually during your seventh month when your tummy is nice and round but before the swelling begins.
For those carrying multiples or on bed rest, it is advised to have your session a bit earlier, more like 6-7 months.
Pregnancy sessions do require for you to move in ways you are not used to, and therefore they can be exhausting to your body. Please try eat a well balanced meal before your session and I will make sure you drink lots of water while we are working.
I will spend time posing you in the most flattering way to capture you at your best. I take the greatest care to ensure your comfort and pictures that share your inner glow.
It is up to you whether you would like to have nude photographs taken. I know it can be a very daunting process but I always ensures that you are comfortable throughout and you don’t feel too exposed. If Dad-to-be is available, we do like to include him in the photoshoot as well.
I have numerous maternity dresses I have invested in which you are welcome to borrow for your shoot.
I do understand that this is an investment, if you would like to chat about a payment plan, please do get in touch and we can work out what works best for you. Once full payment has been settled your images will be released.

Can I order extra photos if I want more?
Yes. Additional images are:
R80 per image; or
depending on how many images we are able to capture and shared in your gallery, the maximum amount will be charged at R1000 for all the images.
How long does a session take?
Depending on the session you choose, your session can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
I would like my husband to be involved, do you work weekends?
Yes I do, weekend sessions are an additional R200, these dates get booked up very quickly so please book sooner rather than later.
What must we wear?
All your outfits should coordinate in colour and, if possible, no writing or distracting pictures on shirts/tops. I have numerous maternity dresses made specifically for maternity photoshoots you are welcome to borrow. PLEASE BRING A GOOD STRAPLESS BRA FOR YOUR SESSION IF YOU ARE BORROWING MY DRESSES.
Where will the photoshoots take place?
Depending on the option you choose, they will either take place at my Studio in Howick or an outdoor location of your choice.
How many photographs do you take?
I take a large number photographs on your shoot. I will edit them down and show you approximately 30-40 from each session.
I really want a maternity photoshoot but can’t afford your full package
I do understand that having your photographs taken is an investment and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed in your images. I do offer payment plans so if you would like to pay your shoot off monthly, please let me know. You will only receive your images once your final invoice has been settled.
THE SMALL PRINT (TERMS AND CONDITIONS) PLEASE CLICK TO READ FURHTER
– 50% of your shoot fee is payable on booking to confirm your session, balance is due the week before your photoshoot. Please note that the booking fee is non refundable, you may change your shoot date once, after this you forfeit your booking fee.
– Approximately a week after your photoshoot a ‘sneak peek’ will be uploaded to Penny Carolan Photography’s Facebook Page for you to see a few of your images. If you DO NOT want your images to be shared, please let me know before or during your photoshoot.
– Approximately 2 weeks after your shoot your images will be uploaded to a secure online gallery where you will be able to view, share and choose your images. Your gallery will be live for 1 week, as this is a paid service for the Photographer, an extra charge of R100 per week will be added to your final bill should you need to extend it past the 1 week date.
– If there is a product you would like a quote on please ask and a quote will be sent to you. All print and product orders are placed through a professional photographic lab in Gauteng.
– All digital orders are sent via dropbox. If you choose the highest package your images will be given to you on USB.
– All print orders will be ready within 4 weeks of payment being received. Although I do always aim for sooner than this. Digital orders will be ready within 2 weeks of payment being received.
– Payment is accepted via cash or EFT bank transfer (If depositing cash please add R50 for bank charges).
– No refunds are given. If for any reason you aren’t happy with your order then I will work with you until you are!
– Purchased prints must not be copied, scanned or reproduced in any way.
– Penny Carolan Photography retains copyrights on all images (even those purchased as digital files) and reserves the right to use and publish for display, publication, competitions and any other purpose and in any manner and medium; to alter the same and to copyright the same. If you do not want your images shared, please inform the photographer at the time of booking.
– It is against copyright law to alter any digital images purchased. Penny Carolan Photography edits each and every photograph produced and given to you digitally, to alter same will result in poor quality images being reproduced.
– By paying the booking fee you accept my terms and conditions.
