I am often asked to explain the difference between a Studio photoshoot and a Lifestyle photoshoot.  I am fortunate to be in a position where I can offer both styles of photography, some clients love the lifestyle look, while others want the clean cut studio look in their images.  Obviously, being a photographer, the best way I can explain the difference is through images I have created.  I am going to do a post for each genre of photography I work in.

Lifestyle / Outdoor photoshoots can take place anywhere really, at your home, a local park or forest or a venue you love.  One thing I have learnt through my journey as a photographer is to find the best light to create beautiful images no matter where I am, before I start a shoot I always have a walk around the location and decide on the best spots to take the photos.  Light is one of the most important elements to photography and, I feel, it can make or break a photo.

Here are some examples of Lifestyle Maternity Images

Studio photography is alot more posed and formal.  A real positive of having a studio is being able to offer a wide variety of maternity images in terms of having semi nude or nude photos, should my clients wish to have those types of images taken.  I have a variety of backgrounds available to use in my studio so I do try and create different looks for each set-up.
As always, I could share hundreds of images so I hope I have managed to explain myself clearly with these few.  At the end of the day, the location chosen is usually a personal one.  Some clients love the outdoor look and others love the indoor look and I love working outdoors and indoors, it keeps me on my toes:)
