This blog post has been a long time coming. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you will know that we have recently made the big move from the UK back to South Africa. It was a very difficult decision to make but definitely the right one. We have been back for 6 months now and I finally feel settled enough to update you on how things are going.
I have now moved my website and emails over to a .com hosting company, unfortunately during the move process I lost all the images in my blog so have spent lots of time re-inserting the images or, in some cases, having to delete the blog posts. So I hope you like me “new look”/newly updated blog.
We have moved to an area in South Africa that I had never heard of let alone visited before. My husband was appointed as a Deputy Headmaster of the local school, Stanford Lake College, he is in his element being at such a beautiful school in the mountains overlooking a gorgeous lake. Everyone has been very friendly/accomodating and welcoming to us and helping us settle into our new home and lives.
We have welcomed a new addition to our family over the last month, a black labrador puppy called Sheba, she has brought so much joy to us already and has helped keep our kids happy and energised. We spend most of our days outside now, except for the rainy days obviously. Even though we arrived here in the late Autumn, the winter days have been mild compared to the UK so we have loved being outside breathing in fresh air all day long. I must say though now that Winter is almost over I am very relieved, we have had a year of Winter, going from Winter in the UK to Winter in South Africa wasn’t the best decision we could have made.
Since being back my business has had a steady stream of work, considering I have yet to do any marketing or advertising I am very happy for this fact. I have run quite a few Photography for Beginners training sessions already as well as done numerous lifestyle photoshoots and corporate photoshoots. I will be spending time over the next few weeks catching up on my blogging so you can see what I have been up to.
I will leave you with these few photographs that I have taken over the last 6 months of my family, some were taken on my point and shoot camera and some on my professional camera. As you can see, we have spent lots of time catching up with family as well as spending time outside – which are exactly the reasons why we came back!
Penny, it’s truly wonderful to hear that you and Craig along with the children have settled back in SA. Hoping to get a trip down there and maybe arrange to meet up. Enjoy the beautiful SA spring that will be upon you shortly. love Helen x
